Exterior Paint
Paint colors originally used in Country Creek were produced by McCormick Paint. Almost every unit has their own individually assigned colors for trim, door, shutters, siding, with an accompanying paint number. Use of McCormick brand is not required; any paint brand may be used. A McCormick paint dealer is located conveniently in Tysons Corner at 8501-3A Tyco Road, Vienna, VA, (703) 734-0770.
Note: We do not have records for all of the units. Unfortunately, some are missing. In the case that colors are not assigned for your home, please try to match the existing paint on your home. Additionally, you may make a request to the CCA Board to use an approved paint color within the palette for the street where your home is located.
The color schemes for each home can be accessed here.
Copper colored bay window roofs are actually constructed of galvanized tin, not copper. Tin does not oxidize; accordingly, the ACC recommends the following painting instructions:
- Wipe surface with warm water & liquid detergent, let dry.
- Wipe surface with cloth soaked in white vinegar, let dry.
- Apply even coating of exterior latex primer, let dry. Primer is essential to avoid paint peeling.
- Paint over primer with copper-colored exterior latex paint, let dry. Apply 2nd coat if necessary.
The ACC does not recommend any specific brands of primer or copper-colored paint. Materials may be purchased at McCormick Paint or at any home improvement store. We recommend that you ask a sales associate for advice on surface preparation and application techniques. Decks and Fences
The design, size, material(s) and color of new or replacement decks must be approved by the board. The board shall consider approving new decks to be constructed of man-made materials such as Eon in "Cedar", Trex in "Brasilia Burnished Amber", or "Saddle", and Veranda in "Tropical Jacoba". Staining of fences or decks with a wood-tone stain such as Wolman Stain or other stain brand in "Light Cedar" or "Cedar" requires pre-approval from the board. Samples of these materials and colors can be viewed at local home improvement stores of via the CCA Architectural Control Chairperson.
Staining of fences or decks with a clear preservative does not require approval from the board. |
